WHAT'S UP
This platform gathers students' perspectives and provides low-barrier and inclusive modes for digital participation on a pan-European level.
The goal is to formalise a communication pipeline between students in Art and Design and the European Commission.
CONVERSATION WITH COMMISSIONER MARIYA GABRIEL
Watch our conversation with European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education, and Youth Mariya Gabriel, where we presented and discussed our ideas and our roadmap.
WHAT WE'VE DONE SO FAR
Engaging the Students
The first episode of Agents of Transformation in Art and Design was held on 28 April 2021 and involved a lively conversation and reflection between 35 students from 7 arts institutions.
Students shared their visions, expectations and critique regarding the New European Bauhaus and the role that art, design and higher education should play in this initiative.
Presenting the Results
The second episode on 28 May brought together arts students and representatives of European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, initiator of the New European Bauhaus to discuss questions regarding the sustainability, inclusivity, and aesthetics.
The students presented their visions for a sustainable, inclusive, and aesthetic future and set the agenda for their input to the New European Bauhaus initiative.
Going Public
The third episode of Agents of Transformation took place on Tuesday 6 July 2021 from 10:00 – 11:00 CEST when students presented and discussed their ideas, in direct conversation with European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education, and Youth Mariya Gabriel.
WHAT'S NEXT
Enabling Digital Participation
We want to reach out to as many students from art and design and partner with as many universities and faculties as possible. Therefore we need to develop low-barrier modes of digital participation.
We are looking for partners to help with the development of this digital hub and are currently in talks with political bodies and the industry.
Governance by Students
We want to give this platform into the hands of the students.
That is why we plan to develop a pan-European, self-organising body that ensures the continuity and integrity of this platform and that carefully balances guidance and support with autonomy and self-direction.
Fostering Creative Entrepreneurship
We believe that art and design, and especially students in art and design, can play a decisive role in shaping a European approach to fostering sustainable entrepreneurship.
We want to establish funding schemes to support artistic, creative and social entrepreneurship, driven by purpose and focusing on societal impact and stakeholder value.
Students from the following institutions have participated so far:
